RAPID ANTIGEN TESTSSARS Antigen Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) uses advanced immunofluorescence-based lateral flow technology in a sandwich design for qualitative detection of nucleocapsid protein from SARS-CoV-2. The SARS Antigen FIA provides automated and objective results in 15 minutes, allowing for testing of patients suspected of COVID-19/2019-nCoV. Antigen tests detect viral proteins and are generally not as sensitive as molecular tests, particularly if the antigen test is used on someone without COVID-19 symptoms, according to the CDC's Website. The test is very accurate (96.7%) in symptomatic patients. This test is a test that is given to rule out an active SARS-CoV-2 infection. Same day results will be delivered to the patient by telephone, and patients can be provided with a hardcopy as well. The test can also be combined to test for Flu A and Flu B. For more information on Rapid Antigen Tests, please visit the CDC's page. 96.7 % PPA (sensitivity) and 100% NPA (specificity). RT- PCR, Molecular NAAT, and Antibodies are also done in house. |
