MicroPhase Clinical Laboratory is an independent clinical microbiology laboratory serving Huntsville and the North Alabama area.  Our outpatient laboratory prides ourselves on creating professional, personal, and timely communication between the medical office and their patients.  Our goal is to provide healthcare professionals with a comprehensive report rapidly so they can ultimately enhance their patients care.

Services.

MicroPhase is a full service CLIA certified microbiology laboratory where all bacteriology and mycology test are tested for proficiency by API.

Bacterial cultures obtained from medical clinics that yield bacterial identifications and antibiotic susceptibilities listed below:

​Urine - detecting bacterial pathogens including polymicrobial and testing antibiotic resistance. Culture is set up nightly so preliminary identification available the following day. 

Throat- positive results available next day.  Throat cultures not limited to the detection of Group A Strep. Other bacterial pathogens that can cause pharyngitis are detected and reported.

Wound- all bacterial identifications including polymicrobial infections and antibiotic susceptibilities including resistant identifications such as MRSA emphasized by verbal communication.

Nasal, sinus, ear, eye and surgical cultures -are evaluated with bacterial identification including polymicrobial infections with antibiotic susceptibility and resistance reports within 48 hours from time of collection.

Fungal- in house evaluation 

All media and supplies are provided by our lab. Cultures are read 7 days/6 nights a week which facilitates in a quicker turnaround time. Cultures are not batched or set aside which could delay the process.

Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA)

SARS Antigen Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) uses advanced immunofluorescence-based lateral flow technology in a sandwich design for qualitative detection of nucleocapsid protein from SARS-CoV-2. The SARS Antigen FIA provides automated and objective results in 15 minutes, allowing for testing of patients suspected of COVID-19/2019-nCoV. Call and report time may vary due to testing volume.

Influenza A+B Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) uses advanced immunofluorescence-based lateral-flow technology to detect influenza A and influenza B viral nucleoprotein antigens. Advance Result Technology (ART) delivers accurate, objective and automated results in as in as little as 15 minutes. Call and report time may vary due to testing volume.

RSV Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) uses advanced immunofluorescence-based lateral-flow technology to detect respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) nucleoprotein antigen directly from nasopharyngeal swab and nasopharyngeal aspirate/wash specimens from symptomatic patients. The high sensitivity of the RSV FIA offers confidence in rapid RSV testing. Advance Result Technology (ART) delivers accurate, objective and automated results in 15 minutes. Call and report time may vary due to testing volume.

Strep A+ Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) uses advanced immunofluorescence-based lateral-flow technology to detect Group A Streptococcal antigens from throat swabs of symptomatic patients.

Lyme Fluorescent Immunoassay (FIA) uses advanced immunofluorescence-based lateral-flow technology to provide rapid differential detection of human IgM and IgG antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi from finger-stick whole blood specimens from patients suspected of B. burgdorferi infection. Advance Result Technology (ART) delivers accurate, objective and automated results in as few as three minutes.

Molecular

Influenza A+B 
Influenza A+B Assay is a rapid qualitative in vitro diagnostic test for the detection and differentiation of influenza A and influenza B viral RNA in nasal and nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with signs and symptoms of respiratory infection.

The assay consists of two major steps: (1) specimen preparation, and (2) amplification and detection of target sequences specific to influenza A and/or influenza B using isothermal Reverse Transcriptase — Helicase-Dependent Amplification (RT-HDA) in the presence of target-specific fluorescence probes.
Highly accurate molecular results in an actionable timeframe. Results you can trust for your high risk patients, on a platform in as little 45 minutes.

RSV + hMPV 
Enhance your respiratory testing with RSV and hMPV.
Human metapneumovirus is a common respiratory virus which often gets mistaken for respiratory syncytial virus when diagnosing based on
empirical evidence alone. Reduce onward transmission and avoid coinfection with RSV + hMPV.

Respiratory Viral Panel 
All the answers when you want them. Individual answers when you need them. RVP detects and differentiates the common respiratory viral strains of respiratory syncytial virus, human metapneumovirus, and
influenza A and B in as little as 45 minutes.

Bordetella Complete

Detect and differentiate Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis in just 50 minutes

Strep Complete 
Group A and pyogenic Group C/G with no culture confirmation required.
Pyogenic group C/G strep is a significant cause of strep pharyngitis in teenagers and adults. These strains will go undetected when using a
rapid antigen test. Differentiate between A and the pyogenic C/G strains in as little as 30 minutes.

GBS 
Accurate results when it matters most.
Obtain accurate GBS results faster than traditional GBS testing methods and help prevent transmission of GBS from mother to newborn.

HSV 1+2/VZV 
Remove the uncertainty in your lesion diagnosis.
Detect and differentiate herpes simplex virus type 1, herpes simplex virus type 2, and varicella-zoster virus from any lesion in as little as 60 minutes.

Trichomonas
